440C is a high-carbon and martensitic stainless steel known for good hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. With correct heat treating, 440C can reach 58-60 HRC, and is typically used in bearings, ball screws, and other rolling contact applications as well as knife blades, medical instruments, food service applications, and valves.
